Woops, I made a slight mistake there. The subroutine return operation should be 'MOV PC,LR', not 'BX LR'. There is no ARM/thumb mode switch involved, and to answer your question, the emulator is written in ARM (99.9%), though there does appear to be a sml amount of thumb code (0.1%). === Subject: Re: hp49g+ : THE END OF THE QUEST ! >Is the emulator written in thumb or is the BX just there to insure that the processor >mode is restored upon a return if the user code tered it? clearing bit 0 and bit 1 of the address to make sure that the address lies on a 4-byte bounda. So it's arm mode. On another note, you say I believe that l a user has to do to execute a custom ARM function is to... ...get the Saturn address of the object, put it in the A field of the C register, and then execute BUS FF. Wouldn't you need to insure that the Saturn address is igned on 4 byte bounda then? Ts could be aomplished by using 4 bytes of padding and moving the arm code in-place using say MOVEDOWN before it's executed. Or, another possibility is to use a arm loader at a fixed Saturn address (like a location in one of the 49's unused reserved memo rens) that copies the arm code to a 4-byte igned arm address and then executes it, reminiscent of copying libra routines into TEMPOB before executing them (though that's for an entirely different purpose). === Subject: Re: Redesigned Keyboard? In fact, I find it somewhat ironic that HP users of l people, who are the ones that are touting the benefits of RPN over gebraic input, are suddenly so ethusiastic about sometng like that. > It does not simplify expressions fast and sometimes cannot integrate > expressions. The 48G does not have a CAS, and does next to no symbolic math, yes. So? Many people are not interested in symbolic math on a ulator. And, if you want to do symbolic math, I would strongly recommend a TI89 or Voyage 200, wch feature a much more useable CAS than the HPs do. > It's file manager is horrible. As someone said here - it seems the the hp48g can serve for more years because of its solidness but if you tnk about it again - many users has broken their LCD screen because there is no protection. In fact - that was the reason Hp added the screen cover in the first place - to avoid screen smasng. In my opinion - since you are new to Hp grapng s you haven't tried ready the eqw writer. If you don't know yet what it is so open the manu and understand what it is used for. I tnk the eqw writer is useful only if the works fast - hp49g+ will be a better decision. The hp48 dont simplifies expressions ve good. You have to press EXPAND and COLLECT too many times until the expression is simplified. The hp49g+ and hp49g has o modes : exact and approx. the hp48g has only the approx mode. Because my english is not ve good, I suggest you to read about those modes too because if you are a student - exact mode will help you a lot. Sometimes people forget about ts tng wch actuly proves the CAS of the hp49g/g+. I tnk (not sure) that the hp48 CAS is more premitive (if exists at l). Ts may be a ve stupid question. but what is the difference beeen the functions solve and zeros? they both seem to return the same tng. thanxs in advance ... === Wle I'm waiting for my HP 49G+ to arrive, I'm wondering whether it is possible to print from the to DeskJet 340 IrDA printer? (I have one wch still works, so it would be handy to extend its usage.) I saw few posts on Google, but notng for the HP DJ3440. === Subject: Hp49+ New Ok I tnk i have 3 questions that many people are waiting to get clear before they dare to buy a new HP49g+ 1.- whats the seri number to look for? 2.- where to buy that hp49+ baby with the fixed keyboard? 3.-Is Hp sending the fixed ulator if you order from internet? === Subject: Re: Received Replacement 49G+ / HP49G+ Recommendation >What important keyboard components could have been left out ? === Subject: Re: Received Replacement 49G+ / HP49G+ Recommendation I don't know. But my guess would be some sort of cusoning pad under each key. >What important keyboard components could have been left out ? === Subject: Re: Hp 49 g+: vs TI89 and other issues... Please HELP! > Some benchmarks are at http://page.ath.cx/hptute/compare.htm - Ts > page is a comparision beeen the 2 ulators. I would add that the comparisons on that page are mostly fair, with the execption of the assessment of trd-party support and programs available for the TI versus HP. As a er of fact, and not suprisingly given the respective market shares of these ulators, there are vastly more programs available for the TI than there are for the HPs, in particular in the area of math and science. so, though ts is mentioned in the comparison, the TI's screen is heads and shoulders above the HPs, an advantage that is compounded by a more intelligent way to represent expressions on the stack. As a result, on a TI, you can usuly see reasonably complicated expressions in their entirety, on the HP you can only see the most simple expressions completely. Unless you choose a smler font, of course, in wch case the expression becomes unreadable in its entirety === Subject: Re: Hp 49 g+: vs TI89 and other issues... Please HELP! > The timings of the TI-89 and HP49G+ are comparable for most operations. That is mostly, but not ways true. o notable exceptions are numeric integrations of functions, where the TI typicly is noticeably faster, and on the other hand numeric matrix inversion, where the TI is horribly, excruciatingly slow. I would be rely === Subject: Re: Hp 49 g+: vs TI89 and other issues... Please HELP! > Other people have reported waiting times of at least a week Do you know of anyone who has been turned down? I read some where on the site that they would not sign anytng containing objectionable content. I wonder what that includes.
