If it's a 49g+ , this topic has been discussed in some other threads a while ago. === Subject: Re: Missed alarm? Yes, the 49g+. I was thinking a missed alarm was one that never executed. The one hour delay was something new to me. I thought I was the only one obsessive enough to program a log to keep track of actual execution times! === Subject: Stat49Pro+ Impressions Please... Stat49Pro+ and Stat48Pro+ ver. 3.0 will be available for the HP49G(+) and HP48G(X) calculators soon. In case you are unfamiliar with these products, a description of their capabilities is given below. What I need is a few people who are familiar with basic and hopefully more advanced methods of inferential statistics who would be willing to try out the product and send suggestions. The HP48G(X) and HP49G(+) versions are both available for this. If you are interested in previewing the product or seeing a detailed data sheet on the product, please send me an email at guthjunk77@charter.net. ------------------------- What's new in Stat49Pro+? 1. Arbitrary regression/least squares applications with inference methods. a. Linear regression with inferences on slope, rho, expected/predicted y values. b. Multivar-linear regression c. Polynomial regression d. Multivar non-linear regression e. Many tests & confidence intervals for these applications 2. Better integration with the Data Manager. The Data Manager can now be invoked from within any inference application - just press the [Data] soft-menu key, and enter your data. Once the data is stored, press the [ImPrt] soft-menu key to import whatever statistics are needed from your data set directly into your input form. 3. More ways to Describe multivariate statistical data (in the Data Manager), including Mean Vector, Variance/Covariance Matrix, and the Correlation Matrix. 4. Better inferential methods for normal-quantile plots. The following gives an overview of the older features of the product: Stat49Pro+ is a complete inferential statistics library written in System RPL. Essentially all methods of descriptive and inferencial statistics covered in a college level statistics curriculum are computed by Stat49Pro+. Included is a data manager which stores sample data and sends statistics directly into input forms for the various inference applications. Some non-parametric tests are supported as well, along with normal probability plots and rank sums. === Subject: Re: So whats next If they fix the bugs and releae slighly enhanced models I'm glad anyway - at least they DO something about it. The 30 MENU method is not so amenable, however, to running from the Filer -- has anyone any idea how to make that work? (i.e. to exit the filer at the beginning of the program itself, rather than allowing the Filer to continue). === Subject: Re: start the num.solver directly (best out of the filer) with a selected equation loaded The call of the Solve Equation works fine! but... how can I consign the Equation (name) selected by the filer to RPL code (for to store in 'EQ')? Furthermore it seems, there are no chance to use custom key assignation or custum menu while browsing with the filer. So how can i call my code in this situation? I'll be grateful of any idea... Jean-Yves === Subject: Re: Doubts I read that General Mills Corp. once did psychologically oriented market research, leading to their selling Betty Crocker instant cake mixes with a deliberately omitted key ingredient (eggs), because the presumed buyer (a/k/a housewife) would feel unfulfilled, unless contributing herself an indispensable additional factor to the entire procedure. What with math and engineering software now equivalently doing practically all of the work by itself, the modern engineer no doubt feels equally unnecessary and dispensable to his employer, hence HP's highly astute marketing ploy of omitting most of the essential details from the manual, so that the engineer can feel once again that the end result could not be obtained without his own personal labor :) === Subject: Re: Doubts ... Be honest: The old hp 48 series was better, but not as good as the 41 TI's keyboard is mushy and disorganized, lacking functionality IF HPQ will make an improved model. the HW is up to 48 level END About the software: The size has grown all the time Compare 28S vs 48S vs 48G vs 49G Always doubling with ROM and thus keeping bug count low is more and more difficult AFter certain point the exponential curve of bugs due to complexity, emulation and cross-dependences makes it an almost impossible task Remember that TI 89Ti was/is called Titanic just because it broke old assembler binaries Si you are right that the 49g+ is not perfect« but to be honest it does a pertty good job AND it can be speeded up to be superfast byt simple software trick VPN === Subject: Re: Decimal point better on HP-33S CNA0527+ Totally agree! === Subject: Help requested to restart a badly crashed HP49G Oct 09, 2005 Hi to all! I just loaded 2 HP48GX programs + their 2 associated variables into my HP49G just to see whether they would work in it. Unfortunately I got a very hard crash ,,, to the extent that I can no longer restart my HP 49G , be it through ON+A+F or through inserting a pin in the back hole. A few times it started prompting something like Restore memory Yes / No ? , I first choose YES a few times and as nothing happened I subsequently chose NO afterwards. HP49G did not recover even with a memory lost. Now it no longer reacts to anything I know of . I also put new batteries in it. No joy , so I removed its 3 batteries for the time being . CAS is the Beta version released some 2 years ago. It looks like I might have corrupted its internal system :-(( !!! Any wizard reading me who could help ? Antoine M. After second and third attempts to short the capacitors, I got the message Invalid card data and then vertical lines with nothing else and again a frozen calculator. I surely should reflash the ROM, but - apart from the fact that the usual site http://www.epita.fr/~avenar_j/hp/calcen.html is not reachable to-day - I cannot devise a way to get my machine in a state where its internal flashrom could be reloaded through my computer. It looks to me like you have a sum there on the right side, and logs can't simplify sums. It also looks like you're missing a closing parenthesis at the end, after the n. Assuming that's where it's missing, I fed the equation (except putting it all on one side) into my 49G+'s grapher, and selected fcn then root. It found 2.06015800521 As the solution. Actually, the simplification you could make it to just drop the second 30th power, making it very small. Then you'd get 1 minus 30th root of (75/13) since the 30th root is even, it gives both positive and negatives, so you take the negative root to give the answer the 49G+ gave. You can't take the positive root, because then you get a number that makes the second term unignorable. === Subject: Re: Help with equation That sound like a close solution but the unknow variable is I in the given equation. yes I have left side is equal to the right side.
