HP-89 Subject: How to send raw RPL string to cculator using conn4x? I'm having ot of trouble sending strings to the cculator. Basicly, what I am trying to do is send a string containing ARM opcodes. If i send the string in ASCII HEX, eg \ABACDEF\, and use H->S, it works fine. But I can't send the raw code via con4x. I hav disabled l translation modes. If I just copy a file containing the opcodes (no quotes), then the ccuator will recive them intact - but there a fragment of an RPL program tacked on the end. It looks like con4x merged a command with my program somehow. Can anyone tell me how to do this? To see the string I am having trouble with, put \FFF4D29EFFC00A3E1000052EDFFFFFA1FFF8DB8EFFFEDCBA\ on your cculator, then run H->S in lib 256. I have a program that generates the raw string, and I'd rather the output be sent to the cculator directly in binary form. === Subject: Re: How to send raw string to cculator using conn4x? While updating HIDE which makes heavy use of the empty name I observed this: In contrast to NULL$ and NULLHXS which point to the empty string and hexastring, resp., NULLID doesn't denote a name, but a program that simply quotes the nullname. To make things more lucid and consistent, I vote for renaming NULLID in 'NULLID in extable. Note that such a renaming doesn't affect running programs or backward compatibility. The nullname is displayed in the user stack as '' and in SysRPL Stack display as NIBBHEX 84E2000 where you see the 5 nibble identifier prolog in reverse order directly. Carsten denoted its pointer (PTR 27308) in Enries as EvNULLID_ (my proposition?). so this is somewhat misleading and EvNULLID_ should rather be renamed to NULLID or I wunder why the 49(+) designers didn't pay more attention to correcting at least some namings in extable, making things more lucid and consistent. Another striking example of a confusing notation is the name #=casedrop which even JYA gave another name in his private extable as can be infered from his postings I hope Cyrille reads this. - Wolfgang === Subject: Re: NULLID - what is it? > Another striking example of a confusing notation is the name > #=casedrop which even JYA gave another name in his private > extable as can be infered from his postings Did JYA cl it \OVER#=csedrp\ by any chance? Sure it can. There are many entries with different names. For example: =DISPROW1 EQU #1245B * =DISP@01 EQU #1245B * There is nothing that prevents you from creating your own table of rom entries. There's a program by Detlef Mueller (forgot name of it) that creates hptabs.lib. What is the point of adding other names to existing entries, however bad they were named in the first point? Just create your own table and add l the names you want. You can even add l the unsupported entries you use. Only if you release your source will it become a problem, but in that case, just distribute the table with it! See Jazz and g48 source for example. -- Daniel A: Because it messes up the order in which people normly read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. The command STO has been replaced by CREATE only. BUT 30% speed improvement because CREATE is so much faster as the SysRPL STO which is itself sever times faster as the user command STO. Thus, the huge library 2 with 67 pages of user commands is split in 10_s now, and the CAS lib with 80 pages in less than 15_s (49+, of course). Split has still 122.5 bytes. Please forgive me. When Googling for Casio des, I most went for a $27.00 (US) de on the FX 1.0 Plus . Only after some reading did I underd that Solve and sever other funcs are not with that model. FX 2.0 Plus. I like the case design too. ( A refugee from the HP collapse, with a very old cculator.) === Subject: HP49G+ keyboard : perhaps sofare problem ? I've noticed that my HP49G+ looses keystrokes sometimes... It is annoying and I don't know if it is rely hardware problem (perhaps for the 3xxxx seri number) because when I go to the ON-D and run the Key testing, and even if I press keys like I do when I use the cc, it has never missed any keystrokes... So I guess it is a problem from the key sofare system (which has been reprogrammed in ARM asm) who looses keystrokes... What do you think about it ???
