help if I explained some of the particulars offactorizations,
especially since most of you are probably used tooperating in
mathematical areas where numbers like 1/2 and 1/3 arealways
available. However, while in the complex plane you always have
fractionsavailable, there are other domains where you do
not.1. Factorizations are just ways of looking at factors of
someproduct.For instance, 2(3) is a factorization of 6, which
tells you that 6 isa product of 2 and 3.That factorization is
in an integer domain, which simply means thatyou have only
integeso a factorization like 5(6/5) = 6, is notvalid in
integethough it is valid in some other domain that has1/5 as a
member.2. Algebra allows a generalization of factorizations
beyond specificnumber examples, for instance(x+2)(x+3) = x^2 +
5x + 6which is true without regard to what domain x is in, so
you can let xbe an integer, or it could be a fraction.3. If x
is an integer, then you're guranteed to be in the
integerdomain, which logically follows from the fact that x is
added to andmultiplied times other integers.4. Algebraic
integers are roots of monic polynomials with
integercoefficients e.g. x^2 + 5x + 6, as monic just means
that leadingcoefficient is a factor of 1 in the integer
domain. Not surprisingly, if x is an algebraic integer, then
x^2 + 5x + 6 isan algebraic integer, and the
factorization(x+2)(x+3) = x^2 + 5x + 6 is in the algebraic
integer domain. What I've done is consider factorizations of
polynomials, where thefactors are not polynomials.5. In an
attempt at questioning an important conclusion a Rick
Deckermade a post with his own example of such a
factorization, and I'veused it partly because it's a quadratic
and easier to handle.That factorization is(5a_1(x) + 7)(5a_2(x)
+ 7) = 7(25x^2 + 30x + 2) where his a's are roots of a^2 - (x -
1)a + 7(x^2 + x).Notice that it is a factorization because you
have factors (5a_1(x) + 7) and (5a_2(x) + 7) which multiply to
give the product 7(25x^2 + 30x + 2).Algebra allows me to make
the substitution a_2(x) = b_2(x) - 1 to get(5a_1(x) +
7)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 7(25x^2 + 30x + 2) where the purpose is to
balance out constant factowhich here arenumbeon both sides of
the equation.Integers are rather easy to work with so now I
can use them todetermine what is forced upon the
variables.Notice that multiplying out gives25 a_1(x) b_2(x) +
10 a_1(x) + 35 b_2(x) + 14 = 175 x^2 + 210 x + 14.That's
important because I now attempt to eliminate the factor of
7from both sides, and to do so while remaining in the domain
ofalgebraic integers.6. The logical conclusion is that the
only way that might possiblyallow that is(5a_1(x)/7 +
1)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 25x^2 + 30x + 2as consider another
possibility, like (5a_1(x)/sqrt(7) + sqrt(7))(5b_2(x)/sqrt(7)
+ 2/sqrt(7)) = 25x^2 + 30x + 2which gives the
factorizationsqrt(7)(2/sqrt(7)) = 2as multiplying out gives25
a_1(x) b_2(x)/7 + 10 a_1(x)/7 + 5b_2(x) + 2 = 25 x^2 + 30 x +
2and the two factors are(5a_1(x)/sqrt(7) +
sqrt(7))and(5b_2(x)/sqrt(7) + 2/sqrt(7))which internally have
sqrt(7) and 2/sqrt(7) as the factors of 2.But that second
factor cannot be in the domain of algebraic integersas
2/sqrt(7) is not an algebraic integer.Generalizing, for any
factorization of 7, with algebraic integers f_1and f_2, where
f_1 f_2 = 7, and f_1 is assumed to be a factor of(5a_1(x) + 7)
you will have(5b_2(x)/f_2 + 2/f_2)as a factor, and if 2/f_2 is
not an algebraic integer, then thatfactor is not in algebraic
integers.7. Logically that follows from the requirement that
for afactorization to be in a particular domain, its factors
must be inthat domain as well.Like before, with 2(3) = 6, in
the domain of integers that is valid, while 5(6/5) = 6 is not
valid in the domain of integers. So if you're trying to remain
in the domain of algebraic integers then(5a_1(x)/7 +
1)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 25x^2 + 30x + 2is the only
possibility.Mathematicians, however, for many years believed
that if the roots ofa quadratic likea^2 - (x - 1)a + 7(x^2 +
x)are not integethen there's no way to figure out where
factors of 7might go between those roots, but they believed
that they did split upin some way such that each root would
have some factor of 7 in thering of algebraic integers. My work
proves that wrong with simple algebraic principles by
usingnon-polynomial factowhich is the step mathematicians did
not take.Unfortunately, rather than accept these results, most
mathematiciansare ignoring my work, while you can see on Usenet

conduc by The Lakeview Methodist Church, likely theminister
will provide assurances to the family that Jordan is in
heaven, andlikely the family believes this load of crap
because it is the line that thefilthy churches (and media,
they are uni with the churches) have beenfeeding them for
years. The Bible is clear that the dead know nothing, thatthey
are in the ground waiting for the second coming of the Lord,
they willnot go to heaven until judged worthy of such. For the
parents or thechurches to claim that their son is in heaven
means that they are judgingthe son, and have judged him worthy
of the great honor. They taught the sonto turn trees into
decora idols, now they are having him crema like hewas a
God-damned Hindu, and then have the audacity to claim that
theirsmitten son is in heaven. The death was not an accident,
the kid wassmitten. The churches teach that the dead are in
heaven because they desireto make the family feel good about
supporting the church. And by teachingthat the dead are in
heaven, this opens the door to necromancy (talking tothe dead)
and other forms of spirituality where the dead individual
isprovided with god-like attributes, as in this case where it
is bluntlysta that Jordan is now taking care of the family.
Believing thatprotection comes from horsehoes, rabbit's feet,
planets, numbecolors, furniture placement, decora trees, Mary
or dead family members is idolatry, repent of the crap or be
prepared to lose another family member, Ipredict. Protestant
and Catholic church members were upset with my words

vain forassistance to flee my persecutonow see where this gets
you?!!! It isquite likely the family still has their decora
tree up, I bet it's heightin inches and the number of
decorations strongly relates to Jordan's nameand age at death,
or maybe Jordan died when the God-damned tree fell on him.You
people only have compassion for your decora trees and
othertraditions, let your decora trees, traditions and Jordan

Elliptical coordinate tranformation questionI am reading
Classical Mechanics by Corben & Stehle, and I am stuck on
aquestion:Ch1 Q4: A possible pair of coordinates of a point
with cartesiancoordinates (x,y) is furnished by the roots of
the equation:x^2/(q - e1) + y^2/(q-bar - e2) = 1 (e1>e2)Show
that these roots q1, q2 satisfy the inequalitiesq1 >= e1 >= q2
>= e2.Also show that the curves q1 = const form a family of
confocal ellipses, that the curves q2 = const form a family of
hyperbolas confocal with theellipses, and that curves of these
two families form an orthogonal net.My thoughts:Now presumably,
e1 and e2 are constants (doesn't say whether they arepositive
constants)?Not sure how q1 and q2 relate to q and q-bar.If q1
and q2 are roots, then does this mean that setting q=q1 and
q-bar=q2solves the equation? If so, and if its true that
q1>=e1 and q2>=e2, then itseems to me that the equation will
always furnish an ellipse? If q and q-bar are two separate
coordinates, then they are not uniquelydefined by the
equation? Is the equation meant to furnish a mapping of
somesort?I get the feeling that there is either a typo, or I
am missing what thequestion is asking....Any help

raad on May 22, 2002 06:20 PMFascinating. It's like he's
trying to take chaos and bind it intowhatever rules he can
find, religious, logical and otherwise. Numbersand math have a
reliable pattern, something that can always be provento true or
false. People and religion do not. It reminds me of
DarrenAronofsky's movie Pi. It's the story of an paraniod
genius who istrying to find a pattern in Pi. A group that

Pi, a number whose existencecan be proven but no quantified,
is proof of the existence of God.Kabatoff's hunt for patterns

raad on May 22, 2002 06:20 PMFascinating. It's like he's
trying to take chaos and bind it intowhatever rules he can
find, religious, logical and otherwise. Numbersand math have a
reliable pattern, something that can always be provento true or
false. People and religion do not. It reminds me of

pre-Schreier property, we can take the two factorizations of>
c, rv = sy and find a common refinement, that is, writec =

Simplicity versus dirty math tricksI've no recently that you
can't claim to be in a ring while usingelements outside of
that ring. The mathematics is rather basic butI'm seeing
disagreement as if there's something to debate. Here's an
example to help take away places to hide:1 + 2 = 3, so you can
say (1+2)/3 = 1, and some might try to claimthat my current
position is like trying to say that 1/2 + 2/3 = 1 isnot in the
ring of integeas you have to sum *first* and then byconvention,
since the division isn't a ring operation anyway, you cansay
3/3 = 1.Now though, consider4(1+2) = 4 + 8as here notice that
you have *two* sums on both sides wher 8 on theright side is a
factor of 4 and 2 on the left.I've poin out that you *have* to
use elements from within the ring, for such an operation, while
posters arguing with me, keep trying topush the argument as if
it's like the 1+2 = 3 example before.Here's how they do it.The
modified Decker example is(5a_1(x) + 7)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 7(25x^2
+ 30x + 2)where b_2(x) = a_2(x) + 1, and a^2 - (x - 1)a +
7(x^2 + x).So multiplying through by 7 on the right side you
have(5a_1(x) + 7)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 7(25)x^2 + 7(30)x + 7(2)and 7
and 2 on the left are factors of 7(2) on the right.Notice that
besides 7(2) on the right you also have 7(25)x^2 + 7(30)x,so
you have two sets of sums: the summation on the right, and
thesummations on the left. There's no simplifying possible,
like with 1+2=3 to be done. It's just a mathematical fact that
the factors of 7(2) on the rightare 7 and 2 on the left. Now

algebraic integewhere neither p nor q is a factor of 7 in that

factorizations, relevanceMathematicians today are inheritors
of a rather deserved glory fromthe exploits and important work
of *past* mathematicians who have donemuch to advance
knowledge. However, it is problematic ifmathematicians today
can rely on social support garnered from theefforts of their
predecessors to hide acts of wrongdoing today. Here I'll
outline the basic mathematics underlying a find of mine of
astrange error in an esoteric branch of mathematics called
algebraicnumber theory. To understand posts on this subject, it
will help if you understandthe basics of factorizations.1.
Factorizations are just ways of looking at factors of
someproduct.For instance, 2(3) is a factorization of 6, which
tells you that 6 isa product of 2 and 3.That factorization is
in an integer domain, which simply means thatyou have only
integeso a factorization like 5(6/5) = 6, is notvalid in
integethough it is valid in some other domain likerational
numbers that has 1/5 as a member.2. Algebra allows a
generalization of factorizations beyond specificnumber
examples, for instance(x+2)(x+3) = x^2 + 5x + 6which is true
without regard to what domain x is in, so you can let xbe an
integer, or it could be a fraction.3. If x is an integer, then
you're guaranteed to be in the integerdomain, which logically
follows from the fact that x is added to andmultiplied times
other integeas addition and multiplication arewhat are called
ring operations by mathematicians.4. Algebraic integers are
roots of monic polynomials with integercoefficients e.g. x^2 +
5x + 6, as monic just means that leadingcoefficient is a factor
of 1 in the integer domain. Not surprisingly, if x is an
algebraic integer, then x^2 + 5x + 6 isan algebraic integer,
and the factorization(x+2)(x+3) = x^2 + 5x + 6 is in the
algebraic integer domain. What I've done is consider
factorizations of polynomials, where thefactors are not
polynomials.5. In an attempt at questioning an important
conclusion a RickDecker, a professor at Hamilton College, made
a post with his ownexample of such a factorization, and I've
used it partly because it'sa quadratic and easier to
handle.That factorization is(5a_1(x) + 7)(5a_2(x) + 7) =
7(25x^2 + 30x + 2) where his a's are roots of a^2 - (x - 1)a +
7(x^2 + x).Notice that it is a factorization because you have
factors (5a_1(x) + 7) and (5a_2(x) + 7) which multiply to give
the product 7(25x^2 + 30x + 2).Algebra allows me to make the
substitution a_2(x) = b_2(x) - 1 to get(5a_1(x) + 7)(5b_2(x) +
2) = 7(25x^2 + 30x + 2) where the purpose is to balance out
constant factowhich here arenumbeon both sides of the
equation.Importantly, with that substitution, at x=0, a_1(0) =
b_2(0) = 0, as Iemphasize that the 7 and 2 visible on the left
multiply to give 7(2)on the right. That is, when you multiply
through by 7 on the right side you have7(25)x^2 + 7(30)x +
7(2) where the 7(2) is the product of the factors visible on
the left in(5a_1(x) + 7)(5b_2(x) + 2).I have to elaborate to
that level of detail because for mathematiciansto fool you
about my discovery, you have to be confused on that
simplepoint.Integers are rather easy to work with so now I can
use them todetermine what is forced upon the variables.Notice
that multiplying out gives25 a_1(x) b_2(x) + 10 a_1(x) + 35
b_2(x) + 14 = 175 x^2 + 210 x + 14.That's important because I
now attempt to eliminate the factor of 7from both sides, and
to do so while remaining in the domain ofalgebraic integers.6.
The logical conclusion is that the only way that might
possiblyallow that is(5a_1(x)/7 + 1)(5b_2(x) + 2) = 25x^2 +
30x + 2as consider another possibility, like (5a_1(x)/sqrt(7)
+ sqrt(7))(5b_2(x)/sqrt(7) + 2/sqrt(7)) = 25x^2 + 30x + 2which
gives the factorizationsqrt(7)(2/sqrt(7)) = 2as multiplying out
gives25 a_1(x) b_2(x)/7 + 10 a_1(x)/7 + 5b_2(x) + 2 = 25 x^2 +
30 x + 2and the two factors are(5a_1(x)/sqrt(7) +
sqrt(7))and(5b_2(x)/sqrt(7) + 2/sqrt(7))which internally have
sqrt(7) and 2/sqrt(7) as the factors of 2.But that second
factor cannot be in the domain of algebraic integersas
My work
proves that wrong with simple algebraic principles by
usingnon-polynomial factowhich is the step mathematicians did
not take. Now algebraic integers have been defined to be the
roots of monicpolynomials with integer coefficients, which is
actually something ofan arbitrary definition.Mathematicians
found it useful for over a hundred years without
fullyunderstanding its limitations, like how you can be forced
out of thatdomain as I have shown. It could be a small mistake,
but by trying to deny and hide it,today's mathematicians are
making a HUGE deal out of it, and bringingtheir own
credibility into question. They are damaging their discipline,
by not telling the truth fully andhonestly.I've shown what is
mathematically correct. It's been that way fromthe beginning
as the correct mathematics does not change.Today's
mathematicians gain nothing by hiding from the truth.
Afterall, in mathematics, when you're wrong, you're just
